There are always several ways to use superposition to solve beam problems. As long as the boundary conditions of the original beam are satisfied, the problem can be subdivided in any manner that we choose.
In this example, we will illustrate two approaches using superposition to determine the beam reaction at A:

b) using simply supported beam cases
