To compute the stresses acting in the circumferential direction of the cylindrical pressure vessel, we consider the equilibrium of a free body that exposes these wall surfaces.
As before, we must also consider the pressure of the fluid contained within the free body. This free body consisting of half of the cylinder body must satisfy equilibrium.
