This equation is known as a compatibility equation. Notice that this equation contains the two unknowns ${\mathrm{F}}_1$ and ${\mathrm{F}}_2$. With the compatibility equation and the previously derived equilibrium equation, there are now two equations that can be solved simultaneously for the unknown forces ${\mathrm{F}}_1$ and ${\mathrm{F}}_2$.
