This problem can be broken into two cases:
• Case 1 consists of a simply supported beam with a uniformly distributed load.
• Case 2 consists of a simply supported beam with a concentrated load at B.
Note that the boundary conditions for the two cases are the same as those in the combined problem. In each case, the beam is prevented from vertical translation but is free to rotate at the support locations.
