Combined loadings – post and beam

To calculate the normal stress due to the axial force F, the cross-sectional area of the post is needed. The area is simply the product of the post width and the post thickness:

A=(200 mm)(80 mm)=16,000 mm2

Before the stresses at B can be calculated, several section properties are required.
